As a frequent traveler, the allure of Golf on the Road is always there. I wonder what Munis San Francisco how are they What courses can I sneak into Austin? I have that invitation open in Philly – should I take it?
And in my 20s, I followed. I’ve clubbed through every airport, on every trip – you name it. But before long, my very simple travel bag took a beating. I would shudder as the airline workers dragged it off to the barrage carousel, the thin webbing surrounding my bars fraying in multiple spots. I had received the free travel bag from an industry friend, and it fulfilled one of life’s truths: you get what you pay for. In this case, I owned a cheap travel bag and it made traveling with clubs worse.
I had to hold its handle in a certain way for the bag to roll straight. I had to be on the linoleum floor, not the sidewalks, so that its wheels wouldn’t catch and drag. Golf on the Road was less appealing with my travel arrangements. It was time for a change.
I waited until the last minute – visiting a PGA TOUR Superstore on the way to the airport – but landed on the right spot: Club Glove Club Traveler.
Club Glove Club Traveler
The Club Traveler is a standard-sized, lightweight golf travel case that will withstand the rigors of air travel. Formerly known as the College Traveller, this premium, padded, collapsible golf travel bag features a padded head area, scratch-resistant interior lining, and shock-absorbing wheel base to keep your clubs secure during transport. Arrive at your next destination with confidence.
This is an extremely anecdotal observation, but in my experience, the proper players I see loading large luggage are always keeping their weapons in this bag. The slimming and padded nature of the Club Traveler makes it look like your sticks are tightly packed in their own little sleeping bag. Its base is rigid, providing protection but also a firmness to hold its shape as you move and weave among other travelers on ground transportation. I feel like an extension of my arm as I run from baggage claim to whatever driver is waiting for me.
The Club Traveler comes with a Stiff Arm extender to make sure your longer clubs don’t feel any extra pressure, and its wheels glide smoothly regardless of the surface. Simply put, I no longer feel any anxiety about how bad Golf on the Road will feel. I have come back to add golf to most of my trips, even if there is no golf at the center of the trip. It might cost a pretty penny up front—$350-$400 or more, including tax—but it’s a purchase that feels more and more efficient every time you use it.
