MotoGP: Crutchlow confirmed as Zarco’s replacement at Mugello

The Castrol Honda LCR team has announced that Johan Zarco will be replaced by former LCR rider Cal Crutchlow.

Today’s meeting, with a flashback to the past, saw the English rider join the team in 2015 and run with LCR until 2020. His first victory came at Brno in 2016, the first MotoGP win in LCR history.

As Yohan Zarco continues his recovery from surgery in the coming weeks, Cal Crutchlow will stand at the Italian Grand Prix.

LCR would like to thank Cal Crutchlow for the presence, commitment and willingness of the Honda RC213V, reflecting the long-term bond between the driver and the team and the valuable memories they share together.

Meanwhile, the Castrol Honda LCR team sends its full support to Johan Zarco, wishing him strength and recovery.

Lucio Cecchinello – Team Leader: “We are all with Johan Zarco and wish him a strong recovery. In our quest to replace Johan, we feel fortunate to be able to rely on our former rider Cal Crutchlow, with whom we have had many happy times and have always had a strong relationship. We would like to thank him for his presence, and we will do our best to make the most of our time together in recovery.” Zarco

Cal Crutchlow: “First of all, I wish Johan Zarco a smooth recovery. As a rider, it’s not easy to face situations like this. This weekend, I have good memories with LCR. The years we spent together were amazing. So when I got the call to replace Zarco, I felt privileged and honored, and I had to try it. We know it will be a great weekend and a good break. Use it as much as possible.
