Leo Atang stops Fouad Shaili in the opening round to remain unbeaten


Heavyweight prospect Leo Atang continued his rise through the professional ranks with a first-round stoppage of Fouad Shaili at Sheffield Arena on Saturday night.

The undefeated Atang wasted little time getting to work, establishing his jab early before landing a series of right hands that quickly put Shaili on the defensive.


As the pressure mounted, Atang unleashed a combination that pinned Shaili in place and absorbed clean blows. Referee Kieran McCann stepped in to stop the bout at 2:30 of the opening round, giving Atang another early win.

Shaili protested the strike and subsequently even performed push-ups in the ring to demonstrate that he felt able to continue, but the referee’s decision stood.

The fight was scheduled for six rounds, but never threatened to go beyond the opening session as Atang immediately laid himself down.

The win improved Atang’s record to 7-0 with 6 knockouts and extended an impressive run that established him as one of Britain’s rising heavyweight prospects.
