Franchi thanks to a decisive goal from Robin Gosens and a goalkeeping masterclass from David De Gea.</strong></p> <p>Going into this competition, Fiorentina were 16th in the Serie A table. They needed a positive result to distance themselves from the relegation zone, while Lazio arrived sitting in 9th position, looking to climb higher with a win.</p> <p>The game started with Lazio controlling the pace and going forward early. The visitors had most of the ball but struggled to break down a resolute home defence.</p> <p>Fiorentina absorbed the pressure and looked for opportunities on the counterattack. Their patience paid off in the 28th minute when Robin Gosens found the back of the net.</p> <p>The goal fired up the home crowd and shifted the momentum slightly. Gosens continued to be a threat throughout the first half, causing problems for Lazio’s back line whenever he got forward.</p> <p>Daniele Rugani received a yellow card in the 31st minute for a tactical foul. This precaution forced the defender to play with discipline for the rest of the half.</p> <p>At half-time, the Lazio manager probably demanded more urgency from his forwards. Despite having 65 percent of possession, the away team failed to capitalize on their limited clear-cut chances.</p> <p>In the second half, Lazio increased their intensity as they chased an equaliser. They forced David De Gea into several crucial saves to protect the slim lead.</p> <p>De Gea was unbeatable, making five saves over the course of 96 minutes. His commanding presence in the box frustrated Lazio’s forwards repeatedly.</p> <p>Tijjani Noslin was booked in the 63rd minute as tempers flared. Both teams struggled to maintain their composure as the match entered its final phase.</p> <p>Recent challenges from Dodo and Roberto Piccoli have added to the card count in the last few minutes. Pedro also entered the referee’s book in stoppage time.</p> <p>The stats highlighted the contrasting styles of the match. Lazio dominated with 661 passes and an expected goals (xG) of 1.38, compared to Fiorentina’s 0.41 xG.</p> <p>Despite the visitors’ statistical dominance, Fiorentina’s efficiency proved the difference.
