Mannix Slam Fury-Joshua Las Vegas Talk

“It’s not complicated. It’s money. But it’s the biggest slap in the face to British boxing fans that you can possibly make,” Mannix told DAZN Boxing. “And I point the finger at Tyson Fury, and I point the finger at Anthony Joshua, because they are the figures with the power here.”

Mannix dismissed any suggestion the decision was inevitable, insisting Fury and Joshua have enough influence to ensure the fight takes place where their fans can attend.

“If that happens, it’s incredibly greedy on the part of Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua,” Mannix continued. “Guys who made tens of millions of dollars, hundreds of millions of dollars, backed by the support of British boxing fans.”

He also highlighted the financial and logistical hurdles British supporters would face if the fight took place in Nevada.

“And now you’re telling them, if they want to watch you, they either have to pay $5,000 to fly halfway around the world to get to Las Vegas, spend money in hotels in Las Vegas, spend more money on tickets in Las Vegas,” Mannix said.

“If you don’t want to travel there, you have to get your ass up at 4:00 in the morning to watch our fight, early Sunday morning over in the UK to watch our fight. It’s bonkers and absolutely insulting to British fans.”

Reports from Mike Coppinger have indicated that a deal is already in place for Fury and Joshua to meet later this year, with Netflix securing the broadcast rights. Joshua is scheduled to face Kristian Prenga on July 25, while Fury is expected to return on August 1, leaving the location of the proposed showdown as one of the last major pieces still to be determined.
