David Almansa takes pole position during Moto3 World Championship qualifying at Balaton Park in Hungary. Riding his Liqui Moly Dynavolt Inact GP KTM on Pirelli control tires, the Spaniard topped the 26-rider field with a lap time of 1:45.686.
Maximo Quiles was the best of the rest with a 1:45.750 on the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team KTM and Brian Uriarte took the third and final spot on the front row with a 1:46.323 on the Red Bull KTM Ajo machine.
Row-two qualifiers included Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Valentin Peron (1:46.371), Rivacold Snipers’ Jesus Rios (1:46.410) and Peron’s team-mate Rico Salmela (1:346.475).
More from the MotoGP press release:
Almansa would drop back to deny Quiles the pole by just 0.064. Almanza is back on top a week after missing the Italian pole start.
A week after being ill at the Italian GP – he had to start from pole – Davide Almansa (Licky Molly Dinavolt Intact GP) returned in Hungary with a 1’45.686. He and championship leader Maximo Quiles (CFMoto Gaviota Aspar Team) were more than half a second apart in qualifying, separating themselves by just six percentage points. Completing the front row was Brian Uriarte (Red Bull KTM Ajo), who came through Q1 to settle for third.
Valentin Perrone (Red Bull KTM Tech3) heads to row 2, with Jesus Rios (Rivacold Snipers Team) splitting it with teammate Rico Salmela. Marco Morelli (GRYD Racing), Adrian Kruse (CIP Green Power) and Veda Pratama (Honda Team Asia) are Row 3 – Adrian Fernandez (Tiger Racing) is third overall after being disqualified from the first six GPs of the year. Fernandez starts P11 here, behind Joel Kelso (GRYD Racing).

There were also some yellow flags and other drama – including Alvaro Carpe’s (Red Bull KTM Ajo) cross which damaged a lap and a crash for David Munoz (Licky Molly Dinavoult Intact GP) – that left the duo wanting more each without a set of laps.
