Jasmine Paolini has become the seventh player to qualify for this year’s WTA Finals in Riyadh.
The WTA announced the news on Saturday. Paolini is the seventh player to secure his place in Riyadh and joins PIF WTA No.
Elena Rybakina and Mirra Andreeva are still in contention for the eighth and final singles spot.
The WTA Finals begin on February 1 in Riyadh.
Paolini has also qualified for doubles, with partner Sara Errani – she is the only player who will compete in both disciplines.
The race to Riyadh will continue next week as Elena Rybakina will try to overtake Mirra Andreeva, who has opted not to play next week.
The former Wimbledon champion still has work to do.
If Rybakina loses Sunday’s Ningbo final against Ekaterina Alexandrova, she needs to win Tokyo to qualify.
If she wins Ningbo tomorrow, she will need a semi-final in Tokyo to qualify.
