Tonight, in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, Gerrvonta ‘Tank’ Davis (30-0, 28 costs) defends his WBA lightweight title against WBA Super Featherweight Champion Lamont Roach (25-1-1, 10). A well -known opponent with whom he faces the amateurs several times. The fame between the two gave Roach improper confidence and believed that he was the one who defeated the tank. He is gone to say that he can and will beat tank. Can he defeat the sport’s most effective Power Puncher?
Tank is a very economical puncher who, on average, throws a total of 32.2 strokes per round, which is the second lowest in box. He may have low production, but surprisingly one of the highest Power Connect percentages in the sport at 48.2 percent. His accuracy makes him a difficult opponent for everyone. He is an extremely patient boxer who knows when to throw, and how to throw his push. In his last fight against Frank Martin, he allowed Martin to get an early lead by allowing him to throw at random while planning his counter -attack tactically. Although Martin won rounds on the scorecards, it was according to design. Tank’s strategy against Roach will be much the same.
Roach’s lonely loss was against Jamel Herring in 2019 when he was pointed out in a technical boxing match by Herring. Herring surpassed Roach 143 to 84 and it seemed like he dropped in the ninth round Roach, but got a favorable decision by the referee, who decided it a slip rather than a knockout. He has since achieved six consecutive wins and won the WBA Super Featherweight Championship in the process against former tank opponent Hector Garcia. Lamont has improved significantly since the loss and appears to be determined to continue his run against tank. Doing so will be extremely difficult. Although he may have weighed in weighing in weighing in, he entered 135 pounds to Gervonta’s 133.8 to gain a tactical advantage, but he is the smaller fighter in terms of power.
