Jeremiah Azu, Jake Hayward, Melissa Courtney-Bryant and Issy Boffi are in the Glasgow squad.
Welsh Athletics will send a squad of 18 athletes to next month’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Jeremiah Azu, the 2025 world and European indoor champion, is hoping to add a Commonwealth medal to his collection.
Jake Hayward, who ran his first competitive race in almost four years in May, will return to the Commonwealth in 2022 after finishing fifth in the 1500m.
Adele Nicole will compete in the shot put, just four months after representing the bobsleigh team at the Winter Olympics in Italy.
Three-time Paralympic champion Aled Davies will defend his Commonwealth Games F42-44 discus title, while Olivia Breen will be heading to her fourth Commonwealth Games and aiming to add two gold medals and a bronze medal to her tally. Four years ago in Birmingham, he won gold in the 100m.
The squad also includes 800m runner Issy Boffi, heptathlete Abigail Pollett, while Ava Lloyd will take on the women’s mile.
In the red vest field will be Justin Davis in the 800m, Charlotte Henrich in the 400m, Kari Hughes in the 3000m and pole vaulter Thomas Walley.
James Williams, chief executive of Welsh Athletics, said: “The Commonwealth Games are a very special and significant event in our calendar. It is the only opportunity for our athletes to compete at the highest level for Wales. At Glasgow Athletic, Wales can look forward to supporting an incredibly strong squad. “We are also looking forward to our 10 athletes, over 50% of the athletics team, making their first Commonwealth Games experience and we can’t wait for Wales to get behind them. In Glasgow, we will see our largest number of dance athletes invited to compete at the Commonwealth Power Games, where they will actually perform at the Commonwealth Power Games.”
Azu said: “It’s always an incredible honor to represent Wales and I’m absolutely delighted to have been selected for the Commonwealth Games. I was just 21 when I competed at Birmingham 2022 and that experience played a huge role in my development as an athlete. To have the chance to represent Wales again makes it even more special after four years because I make it special.
“With the Games almost being a home league, I’m looking forward to getting out there, competing in front of the fans and doing my best to make Wales proud.”
