Making a limited edition of anything is a tricky task.
You can take the “special moment” route and create something for an event, like the Masters, or a party, like 4th of July. It’s safe and predictable, but you run the risk of joining the crowd.
You can also get a little out there with a unique collaboration with a lifestyle brand. However, this can often feel forced and test the limit of what would be considered “authentic”.
Or you can get Vice Golf Approach which, to the uninitiated, appears to be the result of three weeks on the road with the Grateful Dead.
I would say new drivers Vice Special Edition VGD01+ that are falling today follow that recipe to the letter.
Five designs, in a rainbow of colors

As with the limited edition COBRA drivers, new Vice limited editions they are the same VGD01+ drivers that Vice sold last year. They have the same carbon crown and titanium face, but Vice gives them five distinct and colorful designs.
The first is Terra Strike. The headstock has a burnt orange olive drab military grade tactical sight with a camo pattern on the Vice’s proprietary shaft. The head cap features a topographical map print.
The Night Strike carries Vice’s distinctive inked look. The matte black head is bursting with yellow and pink neon flecks, while the black shaft has a neon splash.
Next is Deep Strike. Vice calls it “oceanic” with a navy blue, brown and lime color theme. The shaft features a navy to brown gradient, while the headstock is also blue with the Vice script logo in brown.
The star exploded and a head trip
The Stars and Strikes pattern is just in time for Memorial Day and the 4thth of July. Vice calls it Americana done right, and the white on the head will bring back shades from 2011 and the TaylorMade R11. It’s part of the obligatory red, white and blue theme on the head and shaft. Imagine pulling this out of your bag to celebrate the country’s 250th anniversaryth.
Finally, for the truly cosmic, there’s the spectrum hit. Vice says this driver is “holographic” and changes character depending on how the light hits it. It is a purple to gold color design with a spectrum gradient axis. The headgear features what Vice calls a front “triple” with a rear “tall pattern.” I don’t know what this means, but the picture reminds me of a lost weekend during my sophomore year of college (but we don’t need to get into that right now).
Vice special edition drivers: Specs, price and availability
Vice is announcing it drivers of the special edition VGD01+ today, but they won’t hit the Vice website until tomorrow. This is actually noteworthy, as it gives you an advanced 24-hour warning. The lack of built-in Vice means these drivers have to move fast. There will only be 100 of each colorway for a total of 500 drivers worldwide so when you get up tomorrow so you might want to head over to the Vice website ASAP as they will likely sell out the PDQ and you’ll end up being SOL.
FOMO is real, right?
Vice characterizes the VGD01+ 460cc as a low-revving, high-release driver. The special editions will be available in 9- and 10.5-degree models and have four degrees of loft/lie adjustment. They will come with Vice’s proprietary shafts in R or S bends.
They retail for a very similar price to the Vice at $549.
