The governing body is taking action on Angkrish Raghuvanshi after his angry reaction to his controversial dismissal in the LSG vs KKR IPL 2026 match.



Kolkata Knight Riders dough Angkrish Raghuvanshi was fined after his angry reaction to a controversial dismissal during the IPL 2026 clash with Lucknow Super Giants. The young batsman also received one demerit point after being found guilty of a Level 1 offense under the league’s Code of Conduct.

The incident happened at a tense moment of KKR’s innings when Raghuvanshi was dismissed for obstructing the pitch, a decision that immediately sparked debate among fans, pundits and even members of the KKR camp. His visible anger after his dismissal eventually led to disciplinary action by the IPL governing body.

IPL confirms disciplinary action against Angkrish Raghuvanshi

In an official statement, the IPL confirmed that Raghuvanshi had breached Article 2.2 of the Code of Conduct regarding misuse of cricket equipment, clothing, ground equipment or facilities during a match. In the statement, it was emphasized that the person who was beaten admitted the act and accepted the sanction given to him.

“Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been fined 20% of his match fee and also accrued one Demerit Point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct.” the statement said.

He further clarified that the violation was related to his aggressive actions immediately following his dismissal, including hitting his helmet with the bat in frustration and throwing the helmet as he returned to the dugout. As this is a Level 1 offense, the match referee’s decision remains final and binding.

How did the controversial dismissal happen?

It was in the fifth over of KKR’s innings that Raghuvanshi pushed the ball, hitting nine off seven deliveries. Prince Yadav and tried a quick single.

There was confusion with his batting partner at the non-striker’s end, forcing him to return at mid-off. As he rushed to regain his crease, a sharp throw from Mohammad Shami came from the square and sent him crashing to the pads. Lucknow Super Giants appealed immediately and the on-field umpires referred the matter to the TV umpire for further consideration.

After multiple replays, the third umpire dismissed Raghuvanshi for obstruction, adjudged that he had changed the line of the run in a way that interfered with the toss, and denied the fielding side a fair chance to complete the run.

The dismissal quickly became one of the biggest talking points of the match, with many questioning whether the batsman changed his path on purpose or was simply a natural reaction in a split-second attempt to save himself.

The KKR camp left in anger

The decision did not go down well with the KKR dugout. Raghuvanshi was clearly unhappy and had a brief chat with the on-field umpires before departing. His frustration was evident when he threw his helmet towards the dugout and hit the advertising pad near the boundary rope.
