I play golf a few days a week, mostly in a cart, but as a family we share one, which means I end up walking a good portion of my rounds. This affects the way I think about golf shoes. I want something that holds up for long walks but doesn’t sacrifice the stability and confidence I need when I’m on the ball on an uneven lie or swinging hard on the back nine.
I spent time on the course in each of these shoes. I have been playing golf for over 30 years. I played golf in college and spent time as a teaching pro, so I’ve been in a lot of golf shoes over the years. Here’s how I ranked my five favorites in 2026 plus some honorable mentions worth knowing about.
I grew up playing in FootJoy shoes. I wore them during college golf, I wore them when I was a teaching pro, and they weren’t always as comfortable as they are today. of Series Premiere has completely changed that conversation.
Made with premium full-grain leather, upgraded collar padding with leather trim and ARCTrax outsole technology, the Premiere is built for performance. The OrthoLite Eco Plush FitBed provides all-day comfort underfoot, which you really feel in the 14 hole where your feet would normally be. The fit is a rounded toe with a slightly tapered heel. It has the classic look of a golf shoe.
At $225, it’s a premium price point, but this is a shoe built to last. I wipe mine down after a round and they look brand new. It’s also a studded shoe, so if I ever need to replace the studs down the road, I can, and I doubt the shoe itself will survive the studs.
I tried Packard AND Madison– The Madison leans a little more traditional in its look, but both land firmly in classic territory. This is my pick for the best women’s golf shoes of 2026.
This surprised me and I mean that in the best way.
of MC70 is a studless shoe inspired by the iconic golf shoe of the 1970s and nails that retro look without sacrificing modern performance. Cushioning support provides true energy return with every step, the Lightstrike midsole keeps things light and responsive, and the Traxion studless outsole gives you excellent grip in wet conditions and terrain.
It’s not my favorite adidas trail shoe (more on that below), but for traction and stability, it’s excellent. It’s also a great looking shoe. One thing worth noting: the tongue is on the thinner side. I think the goal was to give it a more refined, premium feel, and I understand that choice, but I would have preferred a little more texture there.
However, at its price point, this shoe delivers. I was impressed with the quality, the design is timeless and it performs when it counts.
I had my eye on Heathlander men’s shoes for a while. They’ve gotten a lot of deserved attention this year and I didn’t even know they had a women’s option until recently. Now that I’ve spent time in them on the course, I’m really impressed.
of Golf shoes features a proprietary molded rubber outsole with 9mm pitch for serious grip and traction, a shock-absorbing Pebax insole for durable comfort, and one-year weatherproof construction. It ships free of cardboard waste in a reusable nylon zipper bag with a fabric dust bag and two extra pairs of ties.
This is a shoe I walk 18 holes in without a second thought. It’s the same price point as the FootJoy Premiere and it’s worth every penny. This is not a higher price for a mediocre product. The quality is there. There’s also a more tactile pad than the Premiere and there are plenty of color options and a firm size to choose from.
Where the Premiere comes out ahead is in traction and long-term repairability. FootJoy is a spiked shoe that you can maintain over time while Heathlander’s the offense, although more than sufficient, is fixed. But if you haven’t tried it Heathlander shoesyou have my full green light.
#4 – ECCO Street Vibe: The best women’s golf shoes for summer and versatility off the course
I’ve never met a golf shoe that doesn’t require a sock. I’ve tried multiple runs with and without socks in the ECCO Street Vibe and with a golf cart, and these slides. I prefer blocking without socks.
of ECCO Street Vibe is a slip-on shoe with a waterproof ECCO-TEX membrane, a removable and washable insole and outsole, inspired by the E-DTS NET design that offers multi-directional traction and all-day walking comfort. It doesn’t quite look like a golf shoe, which is important. It’s exactly what I love about it.
This is my summer golf shoe. It slips on and off effortlessly, performs on and off the course smoothly. ECCO shoes in general tend to be a little tight for me, but Street vibes true to size. The fact that it feels like a street shoe but performs completely like a golf shoe on the course is what makes it stand out.
#5 – adidas Retrocross: The best women’s golf shoes for practice and casual rounds
I wear Retrocross in verse. I wore them to a Korn Ferry Tour event to follow players on foot and logged 20,000 steps in them. My legs were fine.
This is really what you need to know. of Retrocross it’s a spikeless shoe with court-inspired styling and a Traxion outsole built for casual riding, but its real strength is how easy it is to wear. It feels like a hiking shoe you want to wear. It’s instantly comfortable, not something you have to penetrate or think about.
It’s not the shoe I’d reach for on a competition round or on a tough hilly course. But for practice sessions, quick nines, or anytime you want shoes that move between golf and the rest of your day without friction, the Retrocross is the right call.
Honorable mentions
I’ve tested more shoes than the five above and some deserve recognition even if they don’t crack my top five. I will delve into each of these more specifically in future articles.
ECCO Golf S-Casual — A quality, well-constructed shoe with a solid walkability. Great durability in any condition. Like other ECCO shoes I’ve tried, they run a little tight, so keep that in mind when sizing.
Linkswear true antigravity — This felt like a running shoe the moment I put it on and I’m a runner, so that’s a compliment. It features a Pebax Superfoam midsole, full-length nylon speed board, waterproof laminated construction and a recycled upper. It’s light and comfortable almost immediately. The only quibble is that the convenience made the price a little hard to justify. If walking performance is your top priority, it’s worth a try. These are the shoes I keep reaching for when I know I’m walking.
Alma Mater’s Beta Derby – A beautifully made shoe. Full-grain waterproof leather, original calfskin trim and a level of craftsmanship that feels like it’s from another era. Zero break-in time, I wore them the first day and they felt like I had owned them for years. They are a little big compared to some other brands, but still within a normal range. The price kept them out of my top five, but this would probably be number 6 on my list. I’m excited to see what Alma Mater does next and this is a shoe I will continue to wear.
Anderson Ord AO Coast1 – I hadn’t come across it Anderson Ord Women’s Shoes before that, so this is a first look. A few things stood out immediately. The pillar is wonderful. The closest comparison I have is the surface of the mattress. It’s plush and comfortable, but still firm enough to give you the support you need on the course. However, the real standout is the stability. I don’t slip in these shoes, and I think that’s at least partially a function of the weight. They have a bit more weight than most shoes I’ve tested. This isn’t necessarily a knock, it’s just worth knowing that this probably wouldn’t be my walk-18 shoe. The full-grain Italian leather and low-profile silhouette make it an easy go-to for everyday wear — it doesn’t look like a golf shoe, and that’s exactly what appeals.
Final thoughts
I will continue to test women’s golf shoes throughout the season and report back. What surprised me the most when comparing these side by side was how different they feel from each other in terms of cushion, traction, construction and overall quality. At the end of the day, a great pair of shoes gives you a solid foundation for a round of golf.
