World Cup Classification – Group Stage
Brazil cruised to a dominant 3-0 win over Scotland at the Hard Rock Stadium thanks to a clinical first-half brace from Vinicius Junior.
The South American giants cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win against Scotland in their crucial World Cup clash. Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior stole the show, scoring twice before the half-time whistle.
Brazil came into this group stage match after a draw in their first match. Scotland, meanwhile, were hoping to build on their previous win to secure a top spot in the knockout rounds.
The Selecao took control of the match straight away. In the seventh, Vinicius Junior opened the scoring by finishing clean after a clever pass from midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
Scotland tried to respond but struggled to cope with Brazil’s intense speed. Goalkeeper Angus Gunn made several strong saves in the Scottish goal to keep his side in the game early on.
Just before the break, Brazil struck a devastating blow. Vinicius Junior found the back of the net for his second goal in the third minute of first-half stoppage time, again assisted by Guimaraes.
Scotland needed a dramatic tactical change at the break to spark a comeback. However, the five-time world champions remained disciplined and controlled the pace of the match after the restart.
The South Americans sealed the victory in the 60th minute. Striker Matheus Cunha made a fine effort after a good pass from Rayan to put the game out of reach.
The physical play increased as the game drew to a close. Danilo and Fabinho were shown yellow cards for Brazil, while Scotland’s Ryan Christie was booked in the 89th minute.
Scotland pushed hard for a late consolation goal. However, Alisson remained alert in the Brazilian goal, making four key saves to preserve a clean sheet until the final whistle.
Brazil dominated the game’s stats, with 53 percent possession and 20 shots in total. They recorded an impressive expected goals rating of 4.41, while Scotland managed 13 shots and an xG of 0.87.
This vital victory lifts Brazil to the top of the group standings with four points from two games. Scotland now face a must-win final game in their bid to qualify for the knockout stages.
