MotoGP bans holeshot devices, changes grid

The Grand Prix Commission made the following decisions on each manufacturer regarding hotshot equipment, grid layout and the number of motorcycles on the grid.

Holeshot devices will be removed in the MotoGP class, effective from the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix.

The grid layout will be adjusted for all classes, including the 2026 German Grand Prix – extending the distance between the three rows of riders from nine to 12 metres. Three drivers remain in a row.

Finally, in the MotoGP class, where there are at least five manufacturers competing in the championship at that time, there will be a maximum limit of six motorcycles per manufacturer for the effective 2028 season.
