Paris Saint-Germain dominated Nantes 3-0 at the Parc des Princes, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s brilliant performance securing a commanding Ligue 1 win.
PSG maintained their position at the top of Ligue 1 with a comprehensive display against struggling Nantes. The home side controlled proceedings from start to finish, capitalizing on their superior quality to claim a third straight win. Nantes offered little resistance, sitting 17th in the table after 29 games.
Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring in the 13th minute from the penalty spot. The Georgian winger’s calm finish gave PSG an early lead and set the tone for the match. Nantes struggled to respond, with PSG’s possession-based approach dictating the pace in the early stages.
The home side doubled their lead in the 37th minute when Désiré Doué fired past Anthony Lopes. The midfielder’s clinical finish followed a well-constructed team move. PSG’s attacking prowess continued to trouble the visitors’ back line repeatedly.
Nantes offered the occasional threatening stroke but lacked the quality to trouble Matvey Safonov in any meaningful way. The goalkeeper made three comfortable saves during the first half. PSG’s defence, coordinated by captain Marquinhos, remained resolute throughout.
In the second half, PSG picked up where they left off. Kvaratskhelia added his second goal in the 50th minute, effectively settling the game. The winger’s performance earned him a match rating of 9.3, highlighting his dominance at left-back.
PSG controlled 70 percent of possession and created numerous chances. They registered 14 shots in total with six on target, generating 2.15 goals expected. Nantes managed just 11 shots and four found the net, producing just 0.87 expected goals.
Ousmane Dembélé provided creative support throughout, registering three key passes. His movement down the flank perfectly complemented Kvaratskhelia’s attacking runs. The partnership proved too much to contain Nantes.
PSG made tactical adjustments as the match progressed, with substitutions managing the workload effectively. The visitors posed little threat after the break, with their defensive organization collapsing under sustained pressure.
Yellow cards went to Wilfried Zaire-Emery and Illia Zabarnyi for PSG, while Fabrice Guilbert received one for Nantes. No red cards were issued during the match.
The win extended PSG’s lead at the top. They now have 63 points from 28 games with a record of 20 wins, three draws and five losses. Nantes continue to struggle with relegation with just 20 points from 29 games.
PSG’s next challenge will see them continue their title defense in the coming weeks. Nantes must find form quickly to avoid falling further down the table.
