More from the MotoGP press release:
Quills takes out the blocks quickly in P1 on Friday. The Moto3 scrimmage at Jerez is underway and the championship leader is straight into action.
Perfection was the order of the day for Maximo Quiles (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) as the 18-year-old led the charge on the opening day of his home Grand Prix. P1 in both FP1 and practice, the #28 firmly set up victory for the opposition ahead of Saturday’s qualifying sessions in Jerez.
Leading for most of the session, Quiles left it until late to hand over the reins in practice in the final flying lap as he completed Friday’s clean sweep. David Munoz (LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP) returned to action after missing the previous two rounds and took second and briefly took the lead with a few minutes to go in the session. Spanish 1-2, Argentinian star Valentin Perrone (Red Bull KTM Tech 3) put himself into the top three, dismissing any concerns after a brilliant morning.
Behind the top three, it was his best Friday in over a year for Matteo Bertelle (LEVELUP-MTA), with the Italian P2 in the morning before claiming fourth and a Q2 spot in the afternoon. Well done to David Almansa (LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Inact GP) who has seen him take top five despite a recent bout of pain with a broken elbow. Top Honda honors Adrian Fernandez (Tiger Racing) was sixth in P1, 0.405s off the clock. There’s also a strong presence of full-time starters in Q2, with Brian Uriarte (Red Bull KTM Ajo) in P7, Adrian Cruces (CIP GreenPower) in P8, Marco Morelli (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) in P10, Casey O’Gorman (SIC58 Squadra Corse) in P11111 on the Salco course (11111) in P12.
Outside the top 14 and needing a pass in Q1 for a chance, the most recent Grand Prix winner Guido Pini (Tiger Racing) headlines Veda Pratama (Honda Team Asia) and 2025 Spanish GP podium finisher Joel Kelso (GRID – MLav Racing). Scott Ogden (CIP GreenPower) crashed late in Turn 9 but entered Q2 in P14.
