MotoGP pundit Marco Melandiri has slammed the sport’s governing body FM over their ‘dangerous’ decision to disqualify Marco Bezecic from the Czech Grand Prix.
Bezeci has been suspended from Sunday’s Grand Prix After repeating his crash in the Sprint race, the stricken Aprilia showed him getting slapped in the face by a trackside marshal as they tried to get the prototype out of the gravel trap for three laps.
How big of a setback would it be if Aprilia loses the 2026 Marc Marquez title here?
After his win at Bruno, Marc Marquez is 40 points behind Marco Bezecic.
It was a maddening moment for the championship leader, who later saw his advantage at the top of the MotoGP standings. Marc Marquez took a second consecutive Grand Prix victory After capturing Ai Ogura in the final stages of the tournament.
On the morning of the Great Race, following the stewards’ decision to withdraw from the race, Bezechi formally apologized to MarshallAnd the fans who saw the event, but Marco Melandri I don’t think the case has been made yet.
Marco Melandri thinks Marco Bezcicci could return to MotoGP ‘furrier than ever’ after Brno DSQ
In the latest episode Box discussion Podcast with Melandri and Formula 1 expert David Valsecchi, the former gave his verdict on his actions. Bezechichi By Bron.
“It’s really a shame, the problem can have a huge domino effect to say the least,” Melandri fumed. “Even sponsors can complain about damage to their image.
Which other MotoGP rider deserves a race ban for their behaviour?
Marco Bezecchi was kicked out of the Czech GP for hitting Marshall
“Now, I mean, you’re opening up a whole world that you can go on in the background for months or even years. It’s a mess. It’s a complex situation. In that sense, Bezeci was right.
But then, he lost consciousness because he lost sight of things and did things he shouldn’t have done.
While Bezecchi’s actions have been heavily criticized, the five-time MotoGP Grand Prix winner thinks the stewards may have been a little harsh on the Italian.
Asked what punishment he would have given Bezeci if he had handled it, Melandri said: “I would have made him start at the end, I would have made him start at the end.
“At least that way you’re punishing him, but you give him motivation and determination to do well, you want to do well, starting at the end. He could have put on a show during the race, because a comeback is always a show.”
And so maybe a fine, or, to be honest, community service or something different, but leaving it at home, in my opinion, would be more dangerous. Maybe he’ll come back angrier than ever in the next race and be even more dangerous on the road.
Bezecic will get his chance to redeem himself this weekend Dutch TT Serving as the second round of a double-header following last Sunday’s round in the Czech Republic.
The 27-year-old has scored three P2s on the circuit in four attempts while competing on premier class machinery and will be hoping to finally break his duck with a win at Asean.
