Kris Srikkanth suggests a key Hardik Pandya-Ruturaj Gaikwad exchange
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth suggested this Chennai Super Kings (CSK) should investigate the possibilities of bringing Hardik Pandya to their establishment. According to the former India captain, the star all-rounder would be an ideal fit for Chennai’s balance and leadership structure. Srikkanth went a step further by suggesting this Ruturaj Gaikwad may be part of a trade agreement with Mumbai Indians (MI). He also stressed that Chennai should do everything possible to retain the young up-and-comer Ayush Mhatrehe described as one of the franchise’s most valuable long-term assets.
“Hardik Pandya will be an ideal player in CSK. He will be great for CSK. Ruturaj Gaikwad should be MI to CSK to get Hardik Pandya. But CSK should not drop Ayush Mhatre at any cost because he is a fantastic cricketer.” said Srikkanth.
He then suggested that Chennai could potentially include additional players in a bigger deal if required and highlighted how much he appreciates Hardik’s value as a proven match-winning all-rounder.
Tough IPL 2026 campaign for both captains
Interestingly, Srikkanth’s offer comes after both Hardik and Gaikwad endured tough IPL 2026 seasons. Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians finished eighth and ninth respectively in the points table, with neither side able to secure a place in the playoffs.
Gaikwad struggled to establish his usual consistency with the bat during the season, scoring 337 runs at an average of 28.08. Hardik struggled to make his traditional impact, managing 206 runs, enduring a tough campaign with both bat and ball. Despite these numbers, both the players remain among the most valuable Indian cricketers in the league due to their leadership experience and proven track record in previous seasons.
Srikkanth Pant-Kuldeep also supports trade talks
Besides discussing the Hardik-Gaikwad possibility, Srikkanth also highlighted the trade talks he was reportedly involved in. Rishabh pants and Kuldeep Yadav between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Delhi Capitals (DC). The former key believes the move could be beneficial for both franchises. He feels Pant will enjoy a return to Delhi, where he spent most of his IPL career, while Kuldeep can thrive in bigger boundaries in Lucknow.
