I’m typically a counterweight shooter, so a traditional 35-inch shooter is a little out of my comfort zone. That said, every once in a while, I like to go back to a more traditional length setup. Recently, I installed Golf Pride Zero Taper Putter Grip on mine Tour Edge Wingman 801 Slant Putterand after spending time with it, I can say I’m impressed.
What caught my attention immediately was the feel. of Zero Taper it has a nice stickiness to it without feeling too, too sticky. As a former golfer, the Golf Pride Zero Taper sensation LESS it reminded me of the old Cutters Gloves, which were, in my opinion, the greatest football gloves of all time. Zero Taper sits in the hands very naturally (unlike Reverse Taper) and gives you enough texture to feel extremely connected to your shot.
Most importantly, it makes the entire putting stroke feel incredibly stable. Ridiculously stable, actually. The reason I shoot with a counterweight putter is because it feels much more stable than a traditional length putter. with Zero Taper GripI had much better feel and stability than ever before.
This is the part I keep coming back to. With some cheat grips, especially oversized or oddly shaped models, you can gain some level of comfort but lose feedback. That was not the case here. The Zero Taper gave me a very consistent feel during the shot while still allowing me to feel the putter head.
I mentioned it before, but I like this catch too ORDER better than Golf Pride reverse taper grip. The Reverse Taper gave me very little feel and, for my shot, seemed to reduce stability rather than improve it. Simply put, I think the Reverse Taper is a bad throwing grip. With that said, The Zero Taper it’s a much better offering from Golf Pride, and it’s a seriously good putter control.
The closest comparison for me is that SuperStroke Zenergy Tour 2.0which used to be my player control in traditional length shooters. But honestly, I think I like the Zero Taper better. It basically has the same feel but gives me more confidence through the stroke. I’m left-handed, so my grip style is already a bit unorthodox. of Zero Taper it catered very well to my grip style. It felt natural, stable and comfortable right from the start.
Golf Pride may not be the first name most golfers think of for putting gloves, but Zero Taper it is one of the best shooting gloves on the market right now. SuperStroke has some serious competition here.
