Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer and TaylorMade have announced a new collaboration. The interesting thing about this collaboration is that it goes both ways.
You’ll see the TaylorMade influence in the new TAG Heuer Smart Watch and TAG Heuer’s influence on TaylorMade’s Spider ZT.
The chocolate is in the peanut butter and the peanut butter is in the chocolate.
If a fancy smartwatch and a fancy gauge aren’t enough to get your monocle on, there’s also a number of co-branded soft products including caps, golf glove, around the clockand a lot nice travel wave.
That bag is a looker, but the bright stars of The TAG Hauer-TaylorMade collaboration ARE LOOKING AND marksman.
TAG precision in a TaylorMade package
of TAG Heuer Connected Caliber E5 45mm x TaylorMade Edition it’s a beautiful smartwatch. The build begins with the TAG Heuer Connected Caliber E5 golf edition watch.
I reviewed the 2023 TAG Heuer Connected Golf Watch. I found the class to be comfortable and informative for the course. My only concerns were the high price ($2,500) and the battery life of course.
One of those things hasn’t changed. Well, a little. of TAG Heuer Connected Caliber E5 45mm x TaylorMade Edition it is $2550.
However, the literature says that this new edition has a more powerful battery. This would be a game changer. The version I tested was the E3 model. It’s hard to complete a round if you had the brightness too high or too many notifications turned on.
This quote from the press release makes me think that battery life is no longer an issue.
Battery performance is structured in several ways, including up to two days in performance mode, up to three days in low-power mode and up to 17 hours in sport mode, with up to 12 hours dedicated to golf. Fast charging provides a day of use in 30 minutes.
Twelve hours of golf charging should be enough to get you through 36 holes (even on a weekend). The 30 minute fast charging speed is a big improvement over the E3 where this number was closer to 90 minutes.
Even if we ignore all the TaylorMade coolness, the improved battery specs make me want to take one of these to the course. All cold Tag Heuer Golf features without the fear of a dead battery? Sign me up.
The TaylorMade touch
of new TAG Heuer Connected Caliber E5 45mm x TaylorMade Edition there’s more to it than just a better battery. The titanium case is blasted to match the metallic look of the golf equipment. Watch collectors, note that this is the first Connected Caliber E5 not to have a black coating.
Bezel, crown and strap have TaylorMade logos. The frame is also engraved with 18 “holes”.
As usual, the watch automatically tracks your shots, but now it also analyzes your play data using TaylorMade algorithms. Your game data is converted into hit-by-hit numbers, allowing you to identify your game’s strengths and weaknesses.
The clock also works off course. There are two unique digital faces associated with TAG Heuer Connected Caliber E5 45mm x TaylorMade Edition. Both faces include golf themes and TaylorMade branding.
Additionally, you can select complications related to your golf game to display on the always-open face. Your watch can celebrate your longest recorded drive or remind you how long it’s been since you’ve been on the course.
TAG Heuer x TaylorMade Spider ZT
Swinging in the other direction, we have TaylorMade Spider ZT influenced by TAG Heuer. The Spider ZT has a TAG Heuer logo as an alignment aid and its color scheme matches the TAG Heuer Connected Caliber E5 45mm x TaylorMade Edition watch.
The watch collaboration is more nuanced than the Spider ZT, but the combination of TAG and TM aesthetics produces a very unique looking designer. Did you notice that the weights were all hour numbers?
If you’re a fan of both brands but lack the funds for the watch, the co-branded Spider ZT is a good second option.
