There was a high-pressure conflict between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) At Eden Gardens, the veteran pacer produced a sensational performance to pull off a good set Manish Pandey and swing the momentum back in Mumbai’s favor in no time.
As KKR looked to chase down a modest target in a must-win contest, Bumrah stepped up at a crucial moment to create one of the highlights of the night.

The breakthrough came in the 15th over of Kolkata Knight Riders’ chase when Bumrah went back into the attack with MI desperately looking for a wicket. Pandey batted freely on 32 off 45 deliveries and was instrumental in rebuilding the innings after early setbacks.
Filled with the old ball, the MI pacer hit a sharp elbower outside the off stump. Pandey tried to defend, but the delivery bounced wildly after the toss and sneaked through the narrow gap between bat and pad.
The ball hit the stumps without the KKR batsman reacting and Pandey was stunned at mid-on. Pandey appeared in 45 out of 33 games and received the Man of the Match award.
It was a perfect example of Bumrah’s skill and fine seam movement, precise control and late deflection that made the delivery almost impossible. The wicket also marked Bumrah’s first dismissal of Pandey in T20 cricket, making the moment even more memorable for the Mumbai Indians camp.

KKR hold nerve in tight chase against MI
Despite Bumrah’s brilliant knock, Kolkata Knight Riders finally managed to complete the chase in IPL 2026 and keep their playoff hopes alive. Earlier in the evening, the KKR bowlers produced a disciplined performance to restrict Mumbai Indians to 147/8 on a slow Eden Gardens surface. Cameron Green, Karthik Tyagi and Saurabh Dubey while important wickets are picked Sunil Narine once again handled the mids perfectly.
In reply, KKR lost a few wickets in the chase but Pandey and Rovman Powell put together a valuable partnership to stabilize the innings. Bumrah’s wicket created tension for a brief period late in the game, but Kolkata eventually got over the line in 18.5 overs. The win helped KKR stay alive in the race for the final IPL 2026 playoff spot going into the final round of league matches.
