Hrgovic says Dave Allen has ‘loser mentality’

Hrgovic strongly disagreed and mocked Allen’s attitude towards the fight while discussing his opponent this week.

“Yes, that’s his loser mentality. What he got his whole career. That’s why he lost 10 and I have one loss,” Hrgovic told iFL TV.

“It’s just a loser mentality. Just taking pressure off himself like, ‘I’m a Doncaster lad. I’m just here to put up a good fight. I don’t need to win. Pressure’s on him.’

“You know, it’s loser mentality. So fine, I’ll take the pressure. I’ve got to win. I’m a winner.

“So he always had that kind of mentality. ‘I’m fat. I don’t work out. I don’t need to win. I’m short.’ Come on, man. Don’t make excuses all your life. Just practice, be professional and go for the win.

“I expect him to be the best version of himself because it’s a great opportunity for him and it’s his home town. I expect him to be in good form.

“I think I’m definitely a tougher match for him than Zhang. Zhang is old, man.

“I can also be fat when I don’t work out and when I drink beer. I can be fat and be a fight and come to every fight and just say, ‘I don’t need to win. I’m here to fight a good fight.’

“I think I’m better. I’m faster. I’m better in all aspects of the fight. But you know, it’s heavyweight boxing. Anything can happen and he’s a brave guy. He always comes forward and comes to fight. So I think it will be a good fight.”

Hrgovic enters the fight after a tough recent run that has included physical battles against Daniel Dubois, Joe Joyce and David Adeleye. He defeated Joyce and Adeleye after the Dubois loss, with both wins coming after hard rounds and heavy exchanges.

The fight will headline Saturday’s heavyweight card in Doncaster.
