I have now played five rounds of golf with the young ladies Arcos Air AND Arccos smart laser about the app’s updated features and I’ve definitely learned a few things about my game. I will be using this as a monthly update blog to not only keep myself in check on my performance and things I may need to change in my game or gear, but also so you can read and learn for yourself. Let’s go to her.
What the data tells me
like Arcos I would have it, I need work between the tee box and the green. I’ve decided to compare myself to a scratch golfer, and right now I’m missing over 4 strokes. Off the tee I’m seeing semi-decent performance (more on that later), and on the green I’m missing less than a stroke. The biggest problems are in my approach and short game. If I’m honest about the approach shots, they mostly come from poor performance, but there’s no real excuse for some of the short game stats.
The lack of greenery from less than 25 meters is unacceptable. I’d like to blame my equipment, but not in this case. I also miss a lot of greens from 100 to 150 yards, which for me can say a lot about shot selection since those are the distances I hit with my wedges, not my irons. I have a tendency to try to get a little too cool with anything 150 yards and up, and I think this is a great way to realize that I need to be more aggressive with my distance choices and club selection and less focused on “creating a shot,” which usually gets me in trouble.

Driver problem
If you look at the data, Arccos isn’t that upset with my driver performance on the surface, but there is a level of data that can’t be seen. I’m making up for it because of how far I can hit my driver. It’s actually offsetting the penalties I take with the driver off the tee, but to me it’s unacceptable to hit anything out of bounds.
It starts to show a clearer picture when I look at not just my driving stats, but my specific stats with the driver itself – going from winning 0.8 strokes to losing 0.8 strokes; hitting just 43% of the fairways and the dreaded two-way miss. It also hurts confidence – you don’t really know where the ball is going to go. At least it would be nice to have a one-sided loss. So far this season, stepping into the box with a driver has been a pretty bad feeling. Hopefully that will change soon with a new driver in my hands.

What am I working on this month?
First and foremost, the number of greens missed from less than 25 yards must be zero. There is absolutely no excuse for this. This will be a big stat I watch for the next update. I will also abandon the driver. I’ve been using one that gives me the highest ball speed, and that’s still true, but it just doesn’t work for my game. Even after going up and adding weight to the driver crown, I just can’t get the driver to create the amount of spin I’m comfortable with. So I’m going to have to sacrifice ball speed, but I’d rather lose spacing and figure that out.
Arcco’s Golf Smart Laser Rangefinder
More than a spacer. The Smart Laser provides precise “Play Like” distances supported by live weather data, Green Maps and AI Strategy from the full Arccos app. Unlike traditional charms, Arccos improves through software updates, unlocking new features, and sharper AI after you buy it. New features are added automatically. Millions of pictures recorded every month make AI smarter.
The best from this month? So far I feel very comfortable with everything between my driver and my wedges and it shows in the data. My irons are really great and I have more confidence in my G440 4-hybrid and Qi4D 5-wood than almost any other club in the bag. Being able to feel free entering the par-5 or off the tee on the short par-4 has been a huge boost.
I have a lot of golf lined up this month both on and off camera so we’ll see what kind of progress we can make before June. It’s time to figure out how to call.
