Real Betis dominated Oviedo with a commanding 3-0 victory at Estadi La Cartoixa de Sevilla, with Cucho Hernández scoring twice to seal a comfortable win.
Real Betis produced a clinical performance to send Oviedo to La Liga on May 3. The hosts controlled proceedings throughout and moved further away from the relegation battle with a dominant display. Oviedo offered little resistance despite registering 15 shots in total, highlighting the difference between the two sides.
Betis scored first in the 22nd minute when Cucho Hernández found the back of the net. The Colombian striker latched on to a loose ball and finished with precision to give the home side an early lead. This goal set the tone for a one-sided game at the Sevilla stadium.
The visitors struggled to create clear openings despite their shot count. Oviedo’s defensive frailties were repeatedly exposed as Betis controlled possession with 55 percent possession. The away team’s three offside decisions highlighted their desperate attacking approach.
Betis doubled their lead shortly before the break when Abdessamad Ezzalzouli added a second goal in the 45th minute. The winger’s finish came at a crucial time and put Betis in full control heading into the break. Hernández and Ezzalzouli were proving too much for Oviedo’s back line to handle.
In the second half, Betis continued their merciless dominance. Hernández completed his double in the 58th minute with a composed finish. The forward’s two goals capped off an excellent individual display in front of goal.
Hernandez finished the match with a 9.0 rating after his clinical finish. He has converted all three of his shots on goal, a perfect record that reflects Betis’ overall sharpness. Ezzalzouli also impressed with an 8.6 rating, adding an assist alongside his goal.
Goalkeeper Álvaro Valles made five saves to keep Oviedo at bay throughout the game. His clean sheet contributed to a solid defensive display from the home side. Real Betis’ expected goals of 1.54 showed that they created genuine quality chances.
The statistics revealed Betis’ control in the match. In total they have registered 10 shots with five on goal, compared to Oviedo’s 15 attempts and five on goal. Betis’ passing accuracy of 85 percent demonstrated their composed possession game.
This victory consolidates Betis’ position in fifth place with 50 points in 33 games. The win extends their recent form and keeps them well clear of the bottom three. Oviedo remains in 20th position with 28 points, six points from safety and the problems of relegation are growing.
Real Betis will look to maintain this winning momentum as the season progresses. The convincing nature of this performance suggests they have the quality to challenge for European qualification. Oviedo face an uphill battle to escape the relegation zone.
