The lawsuit also seeks an injunction that would prevent Mayweather from participating in his June 27 exhibition fight against Mike Zambidis in Athens, Greece, while the dispute is litigated.
Court filings allege that CSI later discovered plans for Mayweather to move forward with other promotional partners for separate events involving Zambidis and Pacquiao, despite the company’s claimed exclusive rights.
The proposed Pacquiao and Tyson bout was one of the highest profile exhibition concepts discussed in recent years. No fights ultimately took place, leading CSI to demand repayment of the money advanced according to the agreements.
Mayweather, 49, has remained active on the exhibition circuit since retiring from professional boxing with a perfect 50-0 record. Although he has not competed in an official match since stopping Conor McGregor in 2017, he has continued to put on exhibitions around the world against a variety of opponents.
His next scheduled appearance is against former kickboxing champion Mike Zambidis in Greece on June 27. CSI’s request for an injunction could jeopardize that event if the court grants the motion before fight night.
The lawsuit comes as Mayweather pursues separate litigation against First Apex Ventures and his former manager. In that case, Mayweather is seeking $175 million in damages, claiming he was defrauded by individuals involved in his business affairs.
ESPN also reported earlier this week that Mayweather is facing felony charges in connection with an alleged botched investigation.
Neither Mayweather nor representatives of his management company have publicly responded to the allegations at the time of publication.
