Francesco Bagnaia says Ducati are ‘going in circles’ to fix their ‘very complicated’ problem.

Francesco Bagnaia believes that Ducati are “going around in circles” trying to improve the electronics on the GP26, but they finally found a solution at the Jerez test.

Ducati Aprilia did not set the pace in the first season test of the year at Jerez this Monday as it rounded out the top three led by Trackhouse pilots, Ai Ogura and Raul Fernandez. Mark Marquez Ogura was the fourth leading Ducati rider with a deficit of 0.333s.

Bagnaya Set the ninth fastest lap at GP26 with a deficit of just 0.727s to Ogura’s efforts. But the two-time MotoGP champion was delighted with his upgrades, with Ducati’s latest aerodynamics package helping him go through the corners faster than before.

Ducati electronics is another problem, but Bagnaia is not entirely sure that the Borgo Pangale team has solved this year’s biggest problem. Bagnaia is ninth in the Knights’ table for 2026, after failing to score in Spain for the second time this season.

Francesco Bagnaia feels Ducati ‘goes around in circles’ to improve their electronics.

Bagnaia lacks positive feelings on the Ducati GP26. So far this year, he finished only ninth in the Thailand GP, crashed in Brazil and finished 10th in the United States GP. A technical issue forced Bagnaia to retire from the Spanish GP while only running P9.

Monday’s Jerez test was crucial for Bagnaia to get a better feel for the GP26, which helped him get Ducati’s aero upgrade. But Ducati still need to check their data to see if they have found the best setting for the Bagnaia electronic braking.

“Examination is almost always very important, especially in the current situation,” Bagnaya said Motorsport.com. “We tried different aerodynamic solutions and some electronics.

“I’m happy with the aerodynamics, so I hope they bring it to us sooner rather than later. It’s helped me a lot to get speed through the corners, especially without losing the line.”

“On the other hand, the electronic part is a bit complicated because we go around in circles, but today we did a test that led us to improve.

“Now, at Le Mans they will check everything so that we have something that helps me stop the bike and go into the corners, which is very complicated for me.

“For me, this was a very important test – especially after a long run, we saw improvements, I think we were faster with the speed and tires we had.”

Marquez shared Bagnaia’s positive sentiment about Ducati’s aero upgrades after the Jerez test, as the seven-time MotoGP champion believes their new parts have helped improve his front-end feel on the bike. Once he got going, he found it easy to improve his speed.

Marquez said, through Motorsport.comIt was important to try to get the feel back with the front tire, which gave us a lot of trouble this year; We have made some progress. It also helped me while riding in the air.

“Turning in the 1:37s to know if things are working doesn’t tell you anything. And when I wanted to test things better, I dropped to 1:36. I was in the top 1:37 all day, but when it came time to make a decision, I pushed.”

Motorsport.com reported on Monday that Ducati used a new aerodynamic fairing and a new rear swingarm during the Jerez test. Ducati’s latest swing combines a steel section with a carbon fiber fairing that has contributed positively to the two riders.
