Deonte Brown captures WBA Inter-Continental title with a decision victory

Brown started fast and looked to score a takedown in the opening round, but referee Harvey Dock called it a slip. He continued to control the action early, rocking Vasquez with a left uppercut in the second.

Vasquez responded well in the middle rounds. He landed effectively in the third and fourth, opening a cut over Brown’s left eye. The Dominican pressure fighter enjoyed his best stretch from the fifth to seventh rounds, forcing Brown to work through adversity.

Brown regained momentum in the eighth, landing a damaging body shot and using movement to create openings. He finished strong over the final two rounds, boxing effectively from distance while limiting Vasquez’s opportunities to rally.

The win gave Brown the vacant regional title and kept his undefeated record intact.
