The British sprinter was one of 10 suspects arrested and later charged with conspiracy to defraud.
Two-time British 100m champion CJ Ujah has been arrested for cryptocurrency fraud.
Following investigations in Kent, Essex and Londonten suspects were arrested and later charged with conspiracy to defraud.
The suspects are believed to have been part of an organized crime ring linked to the scam, which involved phone calls to multiple victims from people pretending to be police officers and cryptocurrency companies.
Victims were reportedly tricked into sharing important security details, including key phrases, before discovering that the funds stored in their crypto wallets had been stolen. One victim is believed to have lost more than £300,000.
On Thursday (April 30), they were brought to the Margatner Magistrate’s Court. Ujah was one of seven suspects granted bail until his next hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court on May 28.

Brandon Minghelli, who represented Great Britain in the 100m at the 2021 European Under-23 Championships, was also one of 10 suspects arrested. He was remanded in custody until the court session to be held at the end of the month.
At the Michael Johnson Invitational in Texas last May, Uja did not compete in a 21.20 200m.
The 32-year-old, who clocked 9.96 in the 100m, was banned for 22 months after testing positive for Ostarine and S-23, two banned substances, at the Tokyo Olympics, but has been cleared of intentional doping.
As a result of his doping violation, the British men’s 4x100m quartet was stripped of an Olympic silver medal. After returning to competition, Uyah reached the 100m semi-finals at the European Athletics Championships in Rome.
Ujah was part of the British men’s 4x100m gold medal-winning quartet alongside Adam Gemily, Danny Talbot and Nathaniel Mitchell-Blake that beat the USA at the 2017 World Athletics Championships in London.
