Tottenham Contact Martin Baturina from Como

Tottenham Hotspur have made contact and inquired about Como playmaker Martin Baturina, but the initial approach has already been rejected by the Serie A side, who are unwilling to part with their 23-year-old Croatian.

Como have placed an €80m (£69m) price tag on the attacking midfielder, a valuation comfortably above what Tottenham and their Premier League rivals were preparing to offer.

Reports indicate potential bids of between €50m and €55m (£43m and £47m), figures that are well below Como’s asking price and have prompted the rejection.

The Spurs are not alone in their admiration. Aston Villa and Bayern Munich have also made firm enquiries, while Leeds United had a €30m bid rejected for Como in January 2026.

Baturina only joined Como in the summer of 2025 from Dinamo Zagreb in an initial deal of €17-18m, plus a further €5m in potential add-ons.

He signed a five-year contract through 2030, giving Como significant leverage and little incentive to sell a player they consider central to their project.

The midfielder enjoyed an outstanding debut campaign in Italy, registering eight goals and four assists in 34 appearances in all competitions, including six goals and three assists in 29 Serie A games.

His style of play helped Cesc Fabregas guide Como to a historic fourth-place finish in Serie A and the Champions League, raising the stakes for any attempt to win it.

Baturina has further raised his profile at the 2026 World Cup, featuring in all three of Croatia’s group stage matches and scoring a goal against England.

For Roberto De Zerbi, the Croatian represents an attractive creative addition, but Tottenham will need to significantly increase his valuation to even open serious negotiations.

With Como holding firm with €80m and Champions League football to offer their own player, Tottenham face a tough decision on whether to return with an improved offer or switch to alternatives.
