Marc Marquez admitted that he had an ‘informal conversation’ with Honda

Before signing his new contract with Ducati, Marquez was reportedly in talks about returning to Honda.

The Spaniard has won six of the seven premier classes representing Honda from 2013 to 2023.

Speaking recently, Marquez admitted that returning to his old team would be ‘very romantic’.

However, he said there was no ‘normal’ discussion about what he always had an eye for Ducati.

According to a Spanish news outlet Make a markMarquez told DAZN: “Honda is Honda, and I know a lot of people there. It wasn’t a formal meeting because I wanted to hear what Ducati had to say first.

“If Ducati had made an offer that would suit me—under conditions that would make me feel respectable—then there would be no reason to change.

“So, it was an informal conversation, but I told him that I wanted to listen to Ducati first. We dealt with Ducati from the beginning, and that was the most important thing.”

“To be honest, it would have been a very romantic story, but romance is in the world of film. Obviously, it was a romance, and I was very interested in doing it.”

“But I take enough risks like I have on the road. Sometimes you have to make decisions with your heart, not your head. Like my last decision, it turned out to be a good one,” said the nine-time world champion.
