Casemiro’s move to Inter Miami has been completed, with the three-year deal due to be signed and officially announced in the coming days, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Romano broke the exclusive “here we are” on June 20, 2026, confirming that a verbal agreement had been reached and all formalities between the player and the MLS club had been resolved.
The Brazilian arrives on a free transfer, with his Manchester United contract officially set to expire on June 30, 2026, allowing him to leave Old Trafford for no fee.
The deal is expected to run until December 2028, with some reports mentioning an option for an additional season as Inter Miami strengthen their squad led by Lionel Messi.
Crucially, Casemiro is set to join on a non-designated player deal, with Inter Miami’s three DP spots already occupied by Messi, Rodrigo De Paul and Germán Berterame.
As a result, his starting salary is expected to be capped at less than $2 million to comply with MLS roster and budget rules, curbing previously inflated salary speculation.
Early reports from Brazilian channel RTI Esporte claimed a significant pay rise, while a rumor suggested a package of €80 million per season, but analysts dismissed these figures as inconsistent with MLS regulations.
The transfer was briefly delayed by MLS “discovery rights”, with LA Galaxy holding Casemiro’s rights within the league system before Inter Miami negotiated compensation to acquire them.
Reports indicate that the fee is expected to fall between approximately $1 million and £750,000 (€870,000), clearing the final administrative hurdle for the deal.
Casemiro chose Inter Miami to play alongside Messi, attracted by the club’s competitive project, a familiar environment and a schedule less intense than European football.
The MLS secondary transfer window opens on July 13, 2026, which is the earliest date the midfielder can officially register and make his club debut.
With the paperwork now a process, the official announcement should follow shortly.
