01.5 Mile 2016 Adrian Martinez Classic – on runblogrun

Thomas Ratcliffe ran 4:01.50 at the Adrian Martinez Classic on June 2, 2016 at the Adro Mile. Running three laps in the pack, Thomas kept his cool and ran a tenacious final lap, running 4:01.50 to take first place on the list of great Massachusetts high school boys to run the mile.

At the adidas Dream Mile on June 17, Thomas Ratcliffe pushed the pace in search of that sub-four minute mile. His heart and legs fought and he almost held on for victory until Jack Salisbury moved six or seven meters ahead to win in 4:04.21 to 4:04.40.

Here’s Thomas, Adrian Martinez after the mile. Ratcliffe ran valiant races in both.

He was sad after the mile in the adidas BOOST Boston, but I congratulated him anyway, telling him he showed courage and spirit in his Dream Mile race.
