Russell Henley won the Charles Schwab Challenge this weekend with a TSi3 6-year-old Titleist driver and 3-wood, which is worth noting because he won the last one year at the Arnold Palmer Invitational with the latest GT3 models.
But Henley wouldn’t have been able to play a TSi3 7-wood like that this week because such an option didn’t exist.
Instead, two weeks ago at the PGA Championship, Henley was equipped IN New title GTS3 7-wood.
Seeing the growing trend toward fairway woods on the PGA Tour, the GTS3 is The first 3-wood fairway title option to be offered in the 7-wood loft. Previously, only the larger “2” and “1” models offered 7-wood lofts.
Henley previously played a 21-degree hybrid at the venue, but worked with Titleist’s senior director of club promotions, JJ Van Wezenbeeck, at Aronimink to dial in the new 7-wood to get an improved tip height and a 235-yard carry number.
GTS fairway woods have a silver face, which helps players see more loft at address. Most players respond by covering the ball better. Henley’s 7-wood ended up sitting in the C4 SureFit hosel position, which adds another degree of loft and makes the club a degree flatter.

The extra loft was probably a result of Henley covering the ball better and needing a touch more loft to get the ball to its optimum height. It also went with a half-inch shorter Project X Denali Black 80 TX shaft.
Henley is the second player to win with a GTS3 7-wood in the bag, after Cameron Young won the Cadillac Championship with the new club after adding it to the Masters.
