The New York Yankees took a 1-0 lead in the American League with a 5-2 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Monday.

Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon got the win after throwing 6.0 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 earned run and striking out 9.

Juan Soto opened the scoring in the third inning with a solo home run off Rangers starter Alex Cobb, who was injured later in the inning.

Soto’s 3rd inning home run made major league baseball history.

According to MLB Network’s “X,” Soto is the youngest player ever to hit a home run with 3 different teams in a season.

Soto is off to a good start to his 2024 postseason as he has 6 hits in 17 at bats through 5 games with 1 home run, 1 double, 3 RBIs, 2 runs scored and 4 walks.

Monday’s 3rd inning home run against the Guardians made him the youngest player to hit a home run with 3 different teams, including the Yankees, San Diego Padres and Washington Nationals.

Soto has 8 career postseason home runs in 34 games between the 3 teams.

The Yankees will look to take a 2-0 lead against the Rangers in Game 2 on Tuesday night in the Bronx.

Gerrit Cole will take the mound for the Yankees against Tanner Bibby for the Rangers.

The Yankees have won six straight series against American League Central opponents and are looking to make their first World Series appearance since 2009.

Game 3 will be moved to Cleveland on Thursday.
