Paris Saint-Germain edged past Stade Brestois 29 with a late goal from Désiré Doué to claim a 1-0 win at the Parc des Princes and maintain control of top spot in Ligue 1.
PSG dominated proceedings from start to finish but needed patience to break down a stubborn Brestois defence. The home team controlled the ball with 67% possession and created numerous chances throughout the game. However, the visitors proved difficult to hit, with goalkeeper Grégoire Coudert putting in an excellent display to keep the scores level.
In the first half, PSG probed for openings without finding the breakthrough. Senny Mayulu tested Coudert early on, forcing the keeper into action. PSG’s attacking players moved the ball with precision, collecting 13 corners but were unable to convert set-piece chances into goals.
Brestois offered little in attack during the first 45 minutes. The visiting team managed just one shot on goal, focusing on defensive solidity. Their compact form thwarted PSG’s attacking intentions, and the teams went into the break deadlocked at 0-0.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with PSG controlling play while Brestois remained resolute at the back. Lucas Hernández advanced from the left flank, creating chances for teammates. The pressure continued to build on the visiting goal line.
The breakthrough finally came in the 82nd minute when Doué struck with force. The substitute made an immediate impact, finishing clinically to send the Parc des Princes into celebration. Doué’s intervention was decisive after coming off the bench.
PSG’s stats told the story of dominance without early reward. The home team registered 23 shots in total and six on target. They completed 687 passes with 89% accuracy, while Brestois managed just 339 passes. Expected goals favored PSG by 1.25 to 0.16.
Coudert’s heroics kept Brestois in the contest. The goalkeeper made five saves to repeatedly deny PSG. His performance represented one of the most outstanding individual efforts of the evening.
Mayulu impressed at PSG despite the absence of goals. The midfielder has made six key passes and registered two shots on goal. His work rate in midfield helped control the tempo throughout.
The win extends PSG’s lead at the top of Ligue 1. They now have 70 points from 31 games with a record of 22 wins, four draws and five defeats. Brestois remains in 12th position with 38 points.
PSG’s form continues to strengthen as the season reaches its climax. They have won three of their last five games while maintaining defensive stability. This hard-fought win shows his ability to get results when chances are hard to come by.
Brestois will reflect on a solid defensive display despite the defeat. They limited PSG’s clear-cut chances but lacked the attacking threat needed to trouble the home side. The away team must now focus on climbing the table in their remaining matches.
