beware, Nelly Korda is starting the major season on fire. 2024 Chevron Champion rocketed out of the gates Thursday at Memorial Parkshooting a bogey-free seven-under 65. That gave the world No.2 a two-shot lead to begin her quest for her third major win.
Patty Tavatanakits and Somi Lee will go into the second round T2 at five under.
Jeno world number 1 title didn’t fare so well on Day 1. Thitikul, who has never won a major, made five bogeys on her way to a two-over 74 on Thursday. She will start the second round of Friday’s T80 and needs a low round to make the cut and play the weekend.
Defending the champion Mao Saigo passed Thitikul with one shot. She will start the 2nd round eight shots behind Korda.
