New television partners arrive at Augusta National almost as often as the United States launches visits to the moon.
In 2026, CBS will celebrates the 70th anniversary of golf’s first major broadcast; ESPN to celebrate 18th anniversary; and a new upstart (and global streaming giant/part of the largest company in the United States) called Amazon Prime will celebrates its first Masters telecast.
By these metrics, the addition of Amazon Prime to the Masters streaming field for 2026 counts as news in its own right. But of the transmitter PLANs for 2026? Well, they’re just as newsworthy, and on Wednesday morning, we got our first look at them.
According to a release released by the Masters, Prime Video will air from 1-3pm ET on Thursday and Friday leading up to ESPN’s final coverage of the opening two rounds.
In addition, Prime will offer a first-of-its-kind statistics-based stream called Inside the Amen Corner, a dedicated stream on Prime Video that will aim to take die-hard fans deeper into the action and strategy for the three most famous holes on the property at Augusta National — No. 11, 12 and 13. Based on the description of the press release, Inside the Amen Corner appears to be the Prime Minister’s attempt to imitate “Prime Vision” transmission that has grown a sincere love between Thursday Night Football brave for its endlessly edgy and deeply enjoyable coverage of the nuances of football. Coverage of Inside the Amen Corner will air from 10:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET on all four days of the tournament on Prime Video.
In total, the changes represent a new kind of upgrade for the Masters on TV, reflecting the tour’s ever-evolving mindset toward television and entertainment. For years, Augusta National has existed in a state of overlap: at once projecting a classic, timeless look punctuated by limited commercial interruptions, and now moving full speed ahead into a technology-driven future with a best-in-class app and a full gamut of deeply edgy gadgets and gizmos. The Amazon Prime deal is also a reflection of the same tension: Prime’s involvement in the Masters will bring the tournament to a major broadcaster for the first time since the cord-cutting phenomenon began, but it also provides much of the same brand and production prestige that Augusta seeks in each of its major network partners. Even Amen Corner’s dedicated broadcast reflects the same tension, with a blazing, first-of-its-kind telecast just to balance out the more traditional streaming expected of Amazon’s early Thursday and Friday coverage. In all locations and in all ways, the Prime deal aims to prove that the Masters can exist exactly as it has for nine decades … never staying in one place.
Overall, the new Masters partner will exist in exactly the space that Augusta National enjoys with most of its media offerings: Additive, not stifling. For those who can’t get enough of the turf coverage at Augusta National during the second week of April, that’s certainly not all bad news.
Amazon’s Thursday Night Football feed, Prime Vision, is one of the most innovative pieces of sports TV to come out of the last 10 years. It’s a football fans dream.
If Inside Amen Corner is half of this, I’ll be tuning in all week. Excited to check it out! https://t.co/1UmIFt0tVO
