The time is now Shakur vs Tank

In 2021, lightweights Gervonta Davis, Teofimo Lopez, Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia took on the moniker “The New Four Kings”. One weight class down at super featherweight, Shakur Stevenson was a star on the rise.

As Stevenson continued to shine, his name became part of the group. At that time, the boxing community had five talented boxers they wanted to see compete against each other.

On the night of April 22, 2023, Gervonta Davis stepped into the ring to confront Ryan “KingRy” Garcia. Davis looked very impressive when he stopped Garcia in the seventh round.

Once Davis defeated Garcia, fight fans were anxious about Davis fighting another member of the elite. At first they wanted Davis to fight Devin Haney, but suddenly the name of the fifth member of the group began to resonate.

After winning world titles in several weight classes, Shakur Stevenson moved up to lightweight, defeating Edwin De Los Santos by unanimous decision and winning the vacant WBC world title. It was a poor performance, but Stevenson got the job done.

Two years later, Stevenson faced high-volume puncher William Zepeda. Shakur had a very entertaining performance due to the fact that he was able to stand inside the pocket and consistently land crisp combinations.

Stevenson went on to win by unanimous decision. This past weekend, Shakur went up to 140, schooled Teofimo Lopez, and won The Ring and WBO world titles.

After seeing what we saw on January 31st, it’s safe to say we’ve officially entered the Shakur Stevenson era. Shakur is ready and willing to fight any boxer recognized as elite.

Fight fans have been wanting to see a specific marquee matchup, and 2026 is the perfect time for this opportunity. A fight between Shakur Stevenson (25-0, 11 KOs) and Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) is the biggest fight in boxing.

In July 2025, Shakur Stevenson was a guest on the ‘Way Up With Angela Yee’ podcast. When asked about the Gervonta Davis brawl, Shakur gave a direct response.

“Honestly, I’ve been calling for the fight for two or three years now, so I’m ready for the fight. It’s all on Tank. Tank has to say he’s ready.”

In previous interviews, Tank Davis has consistently shown a lack of interest in the Shakur match. During a press conference for his fight against Lamont Roach, a member of the media asked several questions about Shakur, and Tank responded.

“What are you, a Shakur fan or something? Why do you keep bringing up Shakur? There’s crazy fighters out here. I’m fighting Lamont. You keep bringing up Shakur.” Davis went on to say, “I’ll screw Shakur up.”

Gervonta Davis is an effective counter puncher who is accurate, explosive and possesses incredible knockout power. Shakur Stevenson is an elite ring technician who is also known for being a defensive specialist.

Currently, Gervonta “Tank” Davis has a personal relationship to attend to. Once he gets his act together, fight fans will hopefully be able to witness the gigantic Shakur vs Tank clash in mid to late 2026.

With that being said, if the stars are properly aligned and this mega-fight is made, who wins this matchup, Shakur Stevenson or Gervonta “Tank” Davis?
