Pedro Acosta has spoken about his MotoGP future as he says his move to Ducati is complete.
Marc Marquez has reportedly approved Acosta’s move to Ducati, paving the way for him to move directly to the factory team instead of satellite team VR46. The youngster feels that he will not be able to achieve his ambitions with KTM.
The news comes on an exciting day in the MotoGP rider market, with Fabio Quatararo set to join Honda and reigning world champion Jorge Martin filling his place at Yamaha.
Acosta is affiliated with Honda himself, so the timing made sense, even though most of the riders hadn’t even started testing.

In an interview with the Pont Group shared on Manuel Pessino’s YouTube channel, Acosta was asked about his future. It’s unclear when he signed up, but if Acosta signed for Ducati, the move has been in the works for some time.
Surprisingly, Acosta said he plans to take his time before choosing his next destination. The 2026 pecking order is not indicative of what to expect in 2027 given the changes to the rules.
Drivers will have a clearer picture as the 2027 test progresses. The first season tests of the year will be held in late April and early May before the teams get their hands on the Pirelli prototypes in June and September.
Acosta said he has not begun negotiating his next contract as he is focusing on next season.
“It’s all a lottery, isn’t it?” he said. “At the end of the day you have to keep it simple, you don’t have to make hasty decisions. I think the best thing is to start the year, see how each driver feels and then we’ll have time to think about that.”
“Right now, to be honest, we haven’t spoken to anyone. In the end, I think I have a very good team behind me, we have to focus on getting a good result at 26, which will make the manufacturers pay attention to me.”
