Ben Whittaker makes his highly-anticipated Matchroom debut tonight against Benjamin Gavazi in this title-level main event for the vacant WBC Silver light heavyweight title.
Whittaker (9-0-1, 6 KOs) plans to use this fight as a showcase for fans on DAZN against Gavazi (19-1, 13 KOs). Tonight’s event is at the National Exhibition Center (NEC) in Birmingham, England. It will be shown live on DAZN starting at 2pm ET / 11pm PT.

German Gavazi, 30, is a step up for Whittaker as he prepares to start fighting top-level light heavyweight opposition. Promoter Eddie Hearn has already said he believes the 28-year-old Whittaker will be willing to take the “machines” at 175 within “five fights.”
It may have to be sooner if he wants Ben to capture the aging, injury-delayed Dmitri Bivol and Artur Beterbiev before they retire. The third top predator in light heavyweight, David Benavidez, may not stay in the division much longer due to his planned move to cruiserweight. So, he’s another one Whittaker needs to fight sooner rather than later.
