Former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali accused Shoaib Maliki of match-fixing and made shocking allegations. Shoaib Malik is also one of the five mentors in the Champions Trophy domestic tournament in Pakistan. Malik Aygırlar was appointed as a mentor.
Basit Ali was not satisfied with this and even called Babar Azam a “coward”. Babar is in Shoaib Malik’s Stallions team but is currently not the captain of the team despite being the white ball captain of Pakistan. Instead, Mohammad Haris was chosen to captain the Stallions in the Champions One Day Trophy.

Basit Ali calls Shoaib Maliki a master of conversation
Speaking in a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Basit Ali tore apart Shoaib Malik and made serious accusations against him of match-fixing. He also criticized the PCB for appointing Maliki as the mentor of a team in the Champions Trophy.
“People who cannot think about the country should not be appointed. Those who willfully admit failure should not be mentors. If you want proof, I’ll give it to you. Ramiz Raja Saheb interviewed Shoaib Malik. What did he say?” Basit Ali argued.

Basit Ali Babar calls Azam a “coward”.
Basit Ali was also against the appointment of Muhammad Haris as the captain of the Stallions despite the presence of Babar Azam in the team. He even called Babar a “coward” for refusing to play under Haris’ captaincy. He argued that Babar should have refused to play like someone like Umar Akmal or Ahmed Shehzad.
“The only regret I have for Babar Azam is that everyone became captain but Shoaib Malik did not make him captain and went to Haris. You can pick Haris’ 10 from Babar Azam’s pocket,” said Basit.
“This is a great insult for him. Babar is also a coward. He should have done it like Umar Akmal or Ahmed Shehzad refused to play.”
Why was Muhammad Haris appointed the captain of the Stallions?
When asked about the reason for appointing Mohammad Haris as captain despite the presence of Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik revealed that he sees the ability and skills in Mohammad Haris as the future captain of Pakistan.
“We had discussions. Only players who can fit the role and have some ability from my point of view will be selected as captains. In my opinion, the skills needed by a captain are different from personal performances. I plan to pick my captain who has the skills and can bring success to Pakistan in the long run,” said Malik.
The Stallions team includes not only Babar Azam but also Pakistan’s Test captain Shan Masood. But Stallions mentor Mohammad Haris saw him as a potential future captain and backed him for the role.
The Champions One Day Trophy 2024 kicked off on 12 September with Markhorse taking on Panthers in the first match of the tournament. The final of the tournament will be played on September 29. All the matches of the tournament will be held in Faisalabad.
