The undisputed light heavyweight champion Dmitri Bivol and his WBC-capped opponent David Banavidez are close to the finalization of an agreement for a fight this summer on an still specified date and location.
BIVOL’s promoters in Matchroom and Benavidez’s at Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) compile the agreement, allowing Dmitri to retain its four belts. Last week, the WBC Biblical (24-1, 12 COs) ordered to start with benavidez (30-0, 24 coes), with a April 8 deadline for the talks.
Negotiations near end
“Attention attention !!! PBC and Matchroom are very close to finalizing a Biblical and David Banavidez agreement to camp this summer X.
Fans want to see Benavidez get his lap on the four belts at Light Heavyweight, as he earned it with his victory over David Morrell last month. In addition, there is a declining interest in seeing a third battle between Biblical and Artur Betterbiev after their previous two were more chess matches than entertaining.
This is where benavidez comes in. His specialty fights, succeeds with his opponents in uninterrupted action, and that’s what fans of the US and worldwide prefer to see. He has the kind of style people in the modern era would like to see.
The winner of the Bivol- against Benavidez match could face Betterur Betterur Betterur Betterur or possibly Canelo Alvarez if he felt brave. Of the two, Alvarez is likely to fight only Biblical because he is not someone he would have to worry about being knocked out.
There is no word from Turki Alalshikh yet about whether he will try to fight Biscuely for a trilogy with Artur Betterbiev. This is the struggle that Turki presumably wants, and some feel that he is not confident that Bisvol Benavidez can defeat. Biblical is a better chance of defeating the 40-year-old better biev than ‘the Mexican monster’.
