Bianca Andreescu It is recovering from an urgent appendectomy-and aims at a return of the clay court in the spring.
US 2019 US Open Sampling announced its unexpected operation on social media. Surgery has forced Andreescu to leave Merida Open in Mexico later this month.

A creative and versatile player Andreescu has been ruined by a variety of damage in recent years. The Indian Wells 2019 champion has not competed since its candidacy in Tokyo’s quarter-finals last October, falling on Katie Boulter, 6-2, 6-1.
Now, the return of the 130th Canadian rank will have to wait until spring as it recovers from surgery.
“The training was going so well and I was very excited that Merida Open was my first tournament of the 2025 season,” Andreescu posted on social media. “However, I suddenly began to experience some sharp pain in my stomach, which led to an emergency appendectomy.
“Surgery went smoothly, and I’m on the way to recovery. My plan is to return to court for the clay season stronger than ever. Thank you very much for all your support – we can’t wait to compete.”
Merida Open is set for February 24, 2-March.
Last season, Andreescu contested the final of ‘S-Hertogenbosch in the grass, losing to Liudmila Samsonova, 6-4, 3-6, 5-7. Andreescu later grabbed a five -match match with her quarter -final score of Tokyo in her latest performance in October.
