With this wicket, Perth Scorchers’ comeback aim came to a screeching halt as Ashton Agar was dismissed for just 7 runs. Scorchers were reduced to 76-7 as Mohammad Hasnain took the first wicket of the day.
Chris Green and Tom Andrews save Sydney Thunder
Earlier in the day, Perth Scorchers won the toss and elected to field first. Skipper David Warner was dismissed early for just 8 runs by fast bowler Lance Morris. The fast bowler again struck to take the wicket of Matthew Gilkes.
Sam Billings was the next wicket to fall and the collapse began for Sydney Thunder. They were reduced to 75-5 and their innings looked to be over soon. Sam Konstas was effectively shut out of the ball 53-42 as the Thunder lost a big goal.
But Chris Green and Tom Andrews had other ideas as they scored a couple of quick runs in the over. The duo put together an unbeaten partnership of 44 runs from the last three overs to take the Thunder to 158-7. 25 runs, 2 sixes and 2 fours were scored in the final.
Perth Scorchers collapsed in Sydney
In reply, Perth Scorchers started their innings poorly and lost two early wickets in the form of Finn Allen and Sam Fanning. a short collaboration between Aaron Hardie and Cooper Connolly followed, but Hardie was dismissed and the collapse began for the Scorchers.
The Scorchers’ innings never came back and they were bowled out for just 97 runs in 17.2 overs. Hardie scored 22 off 17 balls for the Scorchers. Chris Green took 3-13 for the Thunder and Nathan McAndrew took 2-21 in four overs.
Tom Andrews was named Man of the Match for his all-round performances. Andrews hit 37 off 13 balls with the bat and took 1-20 in four overs with the ball.
