Former Indian National Cricket Team player Sunil Gavaskar has shared his advice for the Rohit Sharma-led side ahead of the fourth Test of the series against the Australian National Cricket Team. He said batsmen should spend more time at the crease because it will give them a feel for what the pitch is like.
The Indian National Cricket Team is all set to face the Australian National Cricket Team in the fourth match of the Test series. The Boxing Day Test between the teams begins on Thursday (December 26) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne.
Indian batsmen have struggled to enter the series. Apart from KL Rahul, no other batsman looks steady at the crease as they try to score quick runs. Sunil Gavaskar has urged the Indian National Cricket Team batsmen not to look at the scorecard and advised them to spend time at the crease. He said the main focus of the openers was to be there by lunch as that would give them a good idea of ​​the pitch.
Sunil Gavaskar also added that Yashasvi Jaiswal is struggling with the new ball in the first half. So according to him, KL Rahul should do the strike. Speaking to Star Sports, he explained:
“…don’t look at the scoreboard. Just look at the clock and just get there. That’s what I want to be at lunch. And then because it gives you a little time to settle in, it also gives you a feel for what the pitch is.” Sunil Gavaskar said.
“…because he (Jaiswal) got out twice in the first innings in three deliveries, first ball in Adelaide, second ball here (Brisbane), maybe Rahul took the first ball.” Sunil Gavaskar added.

Matthew Hayden, who has been part of the discussions around Sunil Gavaskar, said he feels there is an urgency around India’s batting. He suggested that batsmen must find a way to get through the new ball.
Mathew Hayden cites Nathan Mcsweeny as an example, saying that while he may not be scoring runs at the crease, he has found a way to bat for longer. Speaking about the goalkeeper in Melbourne, he explained:
“I feel there is an urgency in India’s batting right now. Technically find a way to pass the new ball. Try to find a way to stay in the loop and stay.
Nathan McSweeney didn’t light this series on fire, but what he did do was resist the urge to quit early. Osman Khawaja is somewhat the same. And that’s Australian terms. This is the new ball gate. Melbourne and Sydney will be no different.”
