The New York Yankees seem to have bounced back nicely after their superstar Juan Soto signed with the New York Mets in free agency.
After Soto’s decision was made, the Yankees didn’t hesitate to make some acquisitions, adding some star players to their roster.
The Yankees signed free agent starting pitcher Max Fried from the Atlanta Braves while also trading for reliever Devin Williams from the Milwaukee Brewers and shortstop Cody Bellinger from the Chicago Cubs.
MLB insider Ken Rosenthal revealed what the next step is for the Yankees this offseason.
“The most obvious move for me would be to sign a first baseman,” Rosenthal said via Foul Territory on the X .
What’s next? @Yankees: After the Cody Bellinger trade?

While Rosenthal says signing a first baseman is the most obvious move, he also notes that Bellinger could play first base if they want to go in a different direction.
Pete Alonso of the New York Mets is one of the top free agents, but Rosenthal mentions others like Carlos Santana of the Minnesota Twins and Christian Walker of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Yankees have used the money saved by not bringing Soto back to acquire plenty of talent so far that will benefit their team in 2025.
While the Yankees have made headlines for a number of moves they’ve made recently, Rosenthal believes they may not be done yet.
The Yankees will look to return to the World Series in 2025 and prove they can win the title even after losing the Soto sweepstakes.
