Golf is a game, my friends. Games are supposed to be fun.
I know we’ve said it before, but we’ll keep saying it until I start seeing some smiles, dammit!
Me baby, me baby.
One of the things that makes golf fun is anything that is a “limited edition” or “special edition”. Those just for the hell of it items can bring an element of joy to a game that could use a kick or two now and then.
Bridgestone Golf has done a great job of doing this in 2024. The Santa BOO Christmas Ballsannounced on Monday, are Bridgestone’s latest limited-edition effort to bring joy. By our count, Bridgestone has released six special edition/limited edition golf balls this year. Since we at MyGolfSpy love ranking things, we thought we’d rank these.
You know, for fun.
Here we go….
#6: Bridgestone/Period Correct Collaboration TOUR BX
I rank this sixth out of six for one simple reason.
I have no idea who or what Exact period it is.
Like many of you, I read Connor’s piece on collaborationbut I’m still scratching my head. They are unable to, so apparently someone takes it.
Just not this Boomer.
#5: Bridgestone E12 Contact Patriot Package
The only reason this isn’t higher is recency bias. 4th July was a long time ago when the sun was shining, the birds were chirping and the winter coat was in storage.
It is also out of stock. However, if we write this again next summer, I’d rank it higher for two reasons: I like the 15-pack, and I like the income benefit even more. Tee It Up for the Troops.
There is nothing like it a small star-spangled banner flies with your Independence Day round.
#4: Bridgestone Halloween BOO TOUR B XS
If you make golf balls and have Boo Weekley on your Tour staff and don’t offer a special edition Halloween ball, we can’t be friends.
This was a performance, and Bridgestone gets extra credit for the spooky orange and black and bloody packaging OO next to its B logo. Boodo you get it The only reason it doesn’t rank higher is, then, recency bias.
Alas, he also has no warehouse.
#3: Bridgestone Thanksgiving in Turkey TOUR B XS
If you grew up in New England in the 60s, you learned the story of John Alden, Priscilla Mullins, the Pilgrims, the Mayflower and the first Thanksgiving. If John and Priscilla played in a Friday night doubles league, I think they would raise these babies.
Again, Bridgestone gets credit for the fun and creative packaging. The turkey logo is a bit cartoony, but since we still have leftovers in the fridge, the latter bias wins over the Halloween ball.
If I am Bridgestone, I will contact WKRP in Cincinnati people for the next year. A special edition KRP Turkey Drop/Les Nessman Buckeye Newshawk Award ball would be truly epic. Or maybe Butterball Turkey people? A Butterball with one of those opening thermometers?
I would be so inside.
#2: Bridgestone Santa BOO Tour B RX
This is where recency bias is lost, even if it’s only a week. These came out on Monday and once again Bridgestone is doing what’s right, good and decent by using Boo Weekley, this time as Santa Camo.
The packaging is rockin’-around-the-Christmas-tree-perfectand the image of Weekley with a Santa hat covering his camo hat is on point. of video with the Saint Andrew gang like elves is the candy cane in the proverbial Christmas stocking.
They are now on sale Bridgestone websitee for $44.99.
#1: Bridgestone/Pabst Blue Ribbon 180th Anniversary collaboration
What could be better than Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas together? Why, a beer, of course. Especially a Pabst Blue Ribbon beer. Pabst and Bridgestone came together last week to celebrate Pabst’s 180th anniversaryth anniversary with one knock-out-of-the-brewery collaboration.
The Pabst packaging case is perfect, the logo is top notch and the towel? Out-friggin’-attitude.
Seriously, this one hit home. My old man used to drink Pabst in What’ll You Have? day and church Pabst Blue Ribbon in my mind in college watching Patrick Swayze succumb to disco fever while out on the town with a hot 70s chick. I had the leisure suit, not the dance moves.
There you have it: the definitive, comprehensive ranking of the 2024 Bridgestone Limited Edition Golf Balls. Now it’s your turn. Are you a happy fan of limited edition deals like these or are you a shy, anti-fun candidate for the coal in your stocking, Mr. Grinch?
Again, me kid. I child.
