Reigning Players Champion Cameron Young He took the lead with an impressive bogey-free eight-under 64. That was good enough for a one-shot lead heading into Friday’s second round. And Young has Jordan Spieth to give thanks.
Spieth also stormed out of the gates on Day 1, going five on the front nine. He eventually signed for a seven-under 65, giving him a great opportunity to fight for his first Tour win since 2022.
World number 1 Scottie Scheffler struggled uncharacteristically in the opening round. He went one under and will start the second round seven shots off the lead.
