#1 WBO ranking Xander Zayas says he is ready to be crowned as a world champion at the junior middleweight in his next fight. The top-promoted Zayas (21-0, 13 COs) are compulsory for WBO champion Sebastian Fundora, and are likely to be increased if he prefers not to defend against him.
It is not the ideal way for Zayas to capture a world title and get it through the email, but that is perhaps the only way. If you hold the 154-pound WBO belt, Xander will make a lot of money because he has a big fanbase in his native Puerto Rico and in New York. Like Edgar Berlanga, Zayas can transfer it into millions without beating someone special.
Xander arrives in Las Vegas on February 14 in a ninth round TKO victory over Slava Spomer. Like the other 20 names on the CV of Zayas, the Germany-based spomer was a complete unknown with no power. It was like a kakewalk for Zayas, which made it look easy to box out the light fighter.

Superstar plan
The top promoter, Bob Arum, believes that Xander will be the next superstar in his stable of fighters. However, he does not say what kind of star he will be. There are true stars, such as Canelo Alvarez, and the pseudo, simulated. Even though Xander seems to be as false as a three-dollar account, he can still earn millions if he gets his feet on the WBO belt. It doesn’t matter how he manages.
If Xander is elevated to the WBO champion, he can make easy defense against Josh Kelly, Ardreal Holmes and Milan talking to milk his belt before being forced to fight someone from his league talent. By then, Zayas will have his fortune and it will not matter if he is losing.
Fundora has not yet said a word about the defense against Zayas, 22.
Fundora makes an optional defense of the belts against Fringe Contender Chordale Booker. If he assumes he wins that fights, Sebastian says he wants Terence Crawford or Errol Spence Jr..
