LAB Golf is returning to the features and benefits that put their players on the map: bigger, more forgiving and easier to target.
While the company’s latest publications (OZ.1, OZ.1i HS AND CONNECTION 2 models) have been smaller and more traditional, its latest offering, the VZN.1i (pronounced One eye vision), maximizes forgiveness and is a synchro to line up.
“Now we go the other way, where bigger is better,” LAB Golf co-founder Sam Hahn told GOLF. “Lord knows how much research is out there to explain it, and the more you can move the weight and mass into the corners of the meter, the better off you’re going to be. We’ve tested it a bunch internally and most people aim it better than any of them. all together and you’re just not asking where you’re looking.”
Hahn called the VZN.1i his favorite the company has ever produced.

What’s really new with the LAB Golf VZN.1i — and why you should care
While LAB’s most recent releases focused on expanding their customer base to try Lie Angle Balance technology, the VZN.1i returns to the super-forgiving designs that became a staple of low-torque putters.
The square opening at the back of the driver takes mass off center increasing MOI. It also serves as a ball retrieval mechanism, like the DF3, but also has an opening at the back if players want to use it as a scoop.
The result is a trapezoidal shape that provides strong visual cues to help players see their lines better. Hahn said stretch was more of a design focus than forgiveness.
“There was a lot of intent around the stretch,” Hahn said. “I think a lot of people jump from the start, and of course the shaft tilts, and so there was a ton of intent around how the joint soles and how it lines up.”
Hahn compared the stretch aids, when paired with extreme stability, to feeling like being on rails. The shaft was also redesigned to help the putter sit square, which, Hahn said, can be a problem for many players when the shaft is in a starting position.
Lastly, the new device features LAB’s steel insert, which Hahn said has become popular since it was introduced on the OZ.1i and later the DF3i. The VZN.1i has a new deeper grind, which Hahn said is more of an evolution in technique than trying to create a specific feel target.

What is it: A high MOI, low torque hammer with sharp lines and visual cues to help players line up to their targets.
Who is it for: Players who have traditionally struggled to line up entry-level or low-torque models.
My take: Easiest LAB to line up
While I’m using a starter, it’s not a low-torque model – partly because when the shaft is too far from the face, I struggle to see the face point anywhere but left.
like low end torque use has skyrocketedgolfers are more used to things like center shaft designs, large shapes and weak shafts. But one issue is that while the start allows for an unobstructed view of the face, to someone who has used an offset insole all their life, it looks very different.
The LAB customizer is useful for choosing the best alignment aid, but it can only do so much.
The VZN.1i combats this through its shaping and sole. The new sole design wants to set up exactly how you put it on the green. Further, the square cutout on the back and sharp corners give you reference points to make sure you’re aiming where you want to.
And when you’re sure you’re lined up well, you’ll make a better shot.
The new deeper milled insert offers a slightly quieter sound while still feeling strong and fast off the face.

LAB Golf VZN.1i Putter (stock)
It’s impossible to nail well if your aim is crooked. Many players know their aim is wrong. Others think their intention is true when it is not. Either way, if your putter isn’t properly aligned, you’re going to miss a lot of shots. We designed the VZN to make aiming easy, with a strategically designed head that’s optically optimized to show you exactly where the face is pointing.
